CIRCLE VERSUS SQUARE. WOW. It had a good run there. I'm proud of this work. I realized a few weeks ago that it even informs my latest project "GoatVsFish." It's a live performance. I'M A COMEDIAN NOW! I like to say "comedic performance artist." Anyway, how I didn't see the connection with "VS" is pretty obvious in hindsight. Anyway, I've got plans for Circle Versus Square, but it'll take a while. No holding your breath. In the meantime, see my shenanigans on Instagram and Twitter and even on Facebook. Also, there's "The Joy of Drinking" on YouTube where I drink alcohol and do oil paintings with Bob Ross!

The Goings-On
So yesterday I went to Daitoku-ji, a Zen Buddhist temple complex, and boy was it beautiful. Basically, it is a compound in which there are many sub-temples, each with its own head abbot. Its beauty was understated in a lot of ways, as you might expect, and I loved the sort of grayscale color scheme. The roofs were this metallic silver color, but in the light they might as well have been a shade of white (haha, shade of white. Is there such a thing?). The whole thing is surrounded by the city of Kyoto, but within the walls one might even forget this fact. There was a painted map of the complex within the gates, and it depicts the complex in an area surrounded by nature alone. I guess since then, the city has arrived. Nonetheless, it is amazing to see these things side by side.
