While designing the "X" in this comic I thought back to the old Road Runner and Coyote
cartoons. Can't get enough of 'em! But I watched over a dozen or so and I couldn't find a good example of the Road Runner standing on an X. Funny, I remember it being so common, but guess it was just my imagination.
Apparently, the Road Runner and Coyote shorts were supposed to parody the "cat and mouse"
cartoons of the day. They parodied them by exaggerating the violence and shifting the sympathy of the audience from the prey (Road Runner) to the predator (Coyote). Also, the Road Runner was designed to be difficult to relate to by having him run around aimlessly for no apparent purpose
